Flight Service From Agartala to Bangladesh’s Chittagong Coming Soon

Sushanta Chowdhury, the transport minister of Tripura, expressed the hope that flights linking Agartala and Chittagong would commence in the near future.

Furthermore, the Tripura government had requested the central government to provide an adequate number of personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to run the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) airport in Agartala 24 hours a day.

Minister Chowdhury stated that the Tripura government has sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs asking for enough CISF personnel to be stationed at the MBB airport in Agartala so that aircraft can land there at night and the airport can remain open 24/7.

Chowdhury added that the Agartala airport has been built by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and is one of the most state-of-the-art airports in the country, complete with all the latest facilities.

Notably, a team of fire service crew and minimum of 342 CISF personnel are required to operate the MBB airport 24×7.
However, currently, there are only 230 CISF personnel in the MBB airport in Agartala.
Minister Chowdhury stated that a shortage of 112 CISF personnel was the main cause that restricted the airport to extend its services beyond the specified hours.

He added that the issue has been taken up with both the Civil Aviation and Ministry of Home Affairs.
