Agartala, August 16: Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, the West Police Station received information that a group of bike and gold ornament thieves had gathered in the border area to plan criminal activities.
Based on the information, West Police Station OC Rana Chatterjee, along with personnel from Durga Chaumuhani Police Station, launched an operation to nab the suspects. During the chase, the miscreants attacked the police with sharp weapons, leaving Constable Deepak Dev of Durga Chaumuhani Police Station injured.
Despite the attack, police managed to apprehend four individuals identified as Amar Das, Mintu Rudra Pal, Jhuton Mia, and Shakil Mia. Authorities recovered three stolen bikes, gold ornaments, and sharp weapons from their possession.
According to Sadar SDPO Deb Prasad Roy, the arrested persons are involved in several cases of robbery and theft not only in Agartala but also in Bishalgarh and Udaipur.
