‘Homes attacked, temples vandalised’: Hindus targetted in Bangladesh 

A number of Hindu temples, households and businesses were vandalised, women assaulted and at least two Hindu leaders affiliated with the Awami League party killed in violence in Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the prime minister post and fled to India.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar on told Rajya Sabha and Loksabha that the Indian government is in constant talks with the Bangladesh interim government they are also keeping a close watch on the law and order situation in Dhaka, after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the prime minister post and fled to India. He also added that during the protests on Monday, several minorities were targeted in Dhaka.

Maximum surveillance is being carried out on the Tripura-Bangladesh border. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said. Discussions held with Assam Rifles BSF CRPF and State Police DGP.

The government is maintaining communication with Delhi. The state government will work as directed by the central government.

It may be mentioned that after the war of 1971 lakhs of refugees from Bangladesh took shelter in Tripura. Taking lessons from this incident, strict surveillance is being carried out on the Tripura-Bangladesh border.

Army jawans have also been deployed. In the last one month, around a hundred Bangladeshis have been caught trying to enter Tripura. A few infiltrators have been detained by the border today also
