Jitendra Chowdhury Slams State Govt Over Power Crisis, Demands Power Minister’s Resignation

AGARTALA: Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury launched a sharp attack on the state government over frequent power disruptions and deteriorating electricity services across Tripura.

Addressing the media, Chowdhury questioned the role of the Power Minister, stating that if electricity services are fully managed by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), there is no justification for the minister to remain in office. He demanded the Power Minister’s immediate resignation.

Chowdhury alleged that while the minister speaks at length about power management inside the Legislative Assembly, he remains absent and silent whenever the public faces major service failures on the ground.

Tracing the roots of the current situation, the opposition leader claimed that the degradation of the state’s electricity sector began during the tenure of former Power Minister Jishnu Dev Varma. Criticizing the state’s overall energy policy, Chowdhury called on the administration to take immediate and effective measures to restore reliable power supply to the public.
