Maharashtra & Tripura Join Hands to Boost Bamboo Industry!
The Government of Maharashtra is set to establish a knowledge partnership with the Tripura Bamboo Mission (TBM) to develop its bamboo industry.
During her visit to Tripura, Smt. Pankaja Gopinath Munde, Hon’ble Minister for Environment & Climate Change, Animal Husbandry, expressed Maharashtra’s keen interest in learning from Tripura’s success in bamboo cultivation and applications.
Key focus areas:
- Studying bamboo’s impact on groundwater recharge & soil erosion control
- Exploring bamboo species suitable for Maharashtra’s climate
- Leveraging bamboo as an alternative energy source to reduce coal dependency
Minister Munde visited BCDI, bamboo nurseries, plantation sites, and interacted with skilled bamboo jewellery artisans, appreciating their craftsmanship.
This collaboration aims to foster sustainable practices and promote alternative energy solutions through knowledge sharing between the two states.
