Meeting of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Standing Committee on Agriculture

A meeting of the Standing Committee on Agriculture was held in West Tripura Zilla Parishad conference hall recently. In-charge Sabhadhipati of the Zilla Parishad Haridulal Acharya presided over the meeting. Other members of the committee along with the officials of the concerned departments were also present. In the meeting, the official of the Division 1 of the Water Resources Department informed that the implementation of 167 programs in the lift irrigation project and deep tube well irrigation project is underway to expand the scope of irrigation.

The official of Division-2 of Water Resources Department informed that the implementation of 30 programs in the same project and deep tube well irrigation project is under process. The official of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department informed that paddy will be purchased at MSP of 12 rupees 83 paisa from farmers in Tarapur of Mohanpur of the district from December 20 to December 25, in Sekerkote Nat temple of Dukli block from December 28 to December 30, in Jirania sub-division from December 26 to January 3 and in Berimura from January 2 to January 8. The official informed that a total of 36325 farmers names have been registered online in West District. In the current fiscal year, each agricultural sub-division has sufficient stock of fertilizers. In the current fiscal year, 14 thousand 986 hectares of land has been brought under Aman paddy cultivation in West District.

An official of the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation informed that in the current fiscal year, 30 hectares of jackfruit and 15 hectares of mango trees have been planted in Mohanpur, Lefunga, Jirania, Belbari Old Agartala, Dukli, Mandai, Hezamara and Bamutia blocks under MIDH scheme. Besides, 5 hectares of land has been brought under marigold cultivation in Hezamara block of West district, Under National Mission for Edible Oils, 2 hectares of land in Jirania Agriculture Sub-division has been brought under Oil Palm cultivation, 47 hectares of land has been brought under under Marigold and Gladiolus flowers cultivation under Mukhyamantri Pushpa Udyan prakalpa.

The official of the Department of Fisheries informed that 8 new ponds have been dug in West District. under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana in this financial year. Motor cycles with ice buckets have also been given to 2 fish traders. Animal Resources Development Department official informed that in the current financial year, 9150 cattle have heen artificially bred in West District. So far 220 beneficiaries have been assisted in rearing ducks under Mukhyamantri Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana and an expenditure of Rs.2 lakh 86 thousand has been spent on it.

A total of 450 beneficiaries in West District will be given financial assistance of Rs 6000 under Prani PalonSamman Nidhi of Mukhyamantri Pranisampad Vikas Yojana.
