Minister Santana Chakma attended the Dr. BR Ambedkar Gold Medal awarding and education ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan on Tuesday.
She said, “The state government has given priority to improving the quality of education of the Other Backward Class (OBC) students. Good results of OBC students in 2021 and 2022 prove it. It became possible due to the sheer will power of students, parents and teachers.”
She further said, “We want the students of the OBC community to get better results in the board exams.
For this, the central government and the state government have taken various schemes. Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha is sincere about this. Chief Minister Akanksha Scheme has been launched to enable OBC students to participate in various national level competitive examinations.”
The OBC Minister added, “Apart from this, arrangements for coaching have been kept in the state. 37 meritorious students from the OBC community who have secured the first to tenth position in the last 2021 and 2022 secondary and higher secondary examinations conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education were given Dr. BR Ambedkar Gold Medal Award. Besides, Vidyasagar Socio-Cultural Award was given to 6 students, 5 students were given awards who won the subject essay competition organized at college and university level on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
She further said, “One-time financial assistance was also given to 157 students from other backward classes on the occasion. Moreover, 14 selected students from OBC Corporation were given tuition. On the occasion, the guests handed over prizes, one-time financial assistance and scholarship certificates to the students.”
