MLA Allegedly Disrupts Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Football Tournament Inauguration in Kamalasagar

A fresh controversy has erupted within the ruling party as internal discipline issues continue to surface publicly. In yet another incident highlighting factionalism, the inaugural ceremony of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smriti Football Knockout Tournament in Motinagar, Kamalasagar, was allegedly disrupted by local MLA Antara Dev Sarkar on Sunday.

According to eyewitness accounts, the program had begun with arrangements including a photograph of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee displayed on the stage. However, tensions escalated when MLA Antara Dev Sarkar reached the venue. She allegedly confronted and drove the District President off the stage, expressing anger over her own photograph not being displayed at the event.

The MLA also reportedly used harsh words against former BJP Yuva Morcha president and current TIDC chairman Nabadal Banik. Her actions led to immediate dissatisfaction among party workers present at the venue, with some staging protests against her behaviour.

This incident comes barely a month after the BJP’s unity meeting led by Sambit Patra, raising questions about the party’s internal cohesion in the state. Despite repeated directives from central leaders like BL Santosh, party discipline appears to be weakening. Sources claim MLA Antara Dev Sarkar feels emboldened following previous intra-party conflicts that concluded with apologies and pardons.

After disrupting the event, the MLA reportedly left the venue, leaving the inauguration ceremony incomplete. The episode has sparked strong reactions, with critics questioning the state of governance and discipline within the ruling party.
