Agartala, July 4: Senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Saturday submitted a detailed memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, urging the state government to eliminate prolonged delays in the recruitment process and introduce a fixed annual recruitment calendar.
In the memorandum, Roy Barman alleged that the absence of a transparent and time-bound recruitment system has left thousands of educated unemployed youths in Tripura facing severe financial, social and psychological hardships.
He pointed out that while central recruitment agencies such as UPSC, SSC and IBPS, along with most State Public Service Commissions, complete recruitment within six to ten months following a predefined annual schedule, recruitment through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), Joint Recruitment Board, Tripura (JRBT) and other state agencies often takes two to three years or even longer.
Roy Barman claimed that several cabinet-approved recruitment proposals have remained pending for years. He noted that the last regular recruitment for the Tripura Civil Service (TCS) and Tripura Police Service (TPS) was conducted in September 2024 for 40 posts, though the process had begun in March 2022. Since then, no fresh recruitment has been initiated.
The Congress MLA further alleged that proposals for hundreds of additional vacancies are still awaiting cabinet approval.
Raising concerns over the functioning of JRBT, Roy Barman said the cabinet had approved recruitment for nearly 1,500 to 2,000 Group-C and Group-D posts, including Lower Division Clerks (LDCs), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Store Keepers, Pump Operators, Peons and Drivers, but the recruitment process has not yet started. He also claimed that the JRBT-1 recruitment process remains incomplete even after nearly five years despite court directives.
The memorandum concluded by drawing attention to the large number of vacant teaching posts across the state and urged the Chief Minister to ensure a transparent, time-bound and regular recruitment mechanism to address unemployment and strengthen public services.
