PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline extended to 30 June

The central government of India has extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN (Permanent Account Number) from March 31, 2023 to June 30, 2023, as announced in the press release by the Finance Ministry.

Therefore, taxpayers will now have three more months to complete the linking process.

The reason for the extension is to provide relief to taxpayers. Thus, taxpayers can link their Aadhaar with PAN without any difficulty till the extended date.

Earlier it was highlighted that according to the Income Tax Act of 1961, individuals who have been assigned a PAN, and are eligible for an Aadhaar number must share it with the tax authority by March 31, 2023, by paying the applicable fee.

If this is not completed, taxpayers will face consequences starting from April 1, 2023, and additional fines may be imposed.

Although the deadline to link Aadhaar with PAN has been extended to June 30, 2023, if a PAN card holder fails to link Aadhaar even after the new deadline, the PAN card will become non-operative.

According to the Finance Ministry, Aadhaar has been linked with 51 crore PANs till date.
