Post-Poll Tensions in Tripura: BJP Workers, Offices Allegedly Targeted After ADC Results

Sporadic incidents of violence have been reported from various parts of Tripura in the days following the declaration of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election results.

The developments have triggered concerns regarding the law and order situation, although state police officials stated that the situation is currently under control.

The tension comes after the TIPRA Motha Party registered a decisive victory in the ADC polls, winning 24 out of 28 seats. The results were announced on April 17. Notably, the party, which is an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state assembly, had contested the ADC elections independently.

According to reports received over the last two days, several BJP party offices and supporters were allegedly attacked in isolated incidents.

Allegations have been directed towards supporters of TIPRA Motha. However, the party leadership has publicly distanced itself from the incidents and denied any involvement in the violence.
