Dharmanagar, July 15: Road encroachment and worsening traffic congestion have become a major concern for residents of Dharmanagar, the commercial hub of North Tripura, causing inconvenience to both commuters and pedestrians.
According to local residents, government roads in front of Maya Cinema Hall Chowmuhani and the Bazar Kolkata showroom have allegedly been encroached upon for shop expansion and vehicle parking. As a result, severe traffic jams are witnessed in the area almost every day, disrupting the smooth movement of vehicles.
The alleged encroachment of footpaths has further added to the difficulties faced by pedestrians, forcing many to walk on the busy roads and increasing the risk of accidents.
Residents have alleged that despite these illegal encroachments taking place in full view of the traffic police and the Dharmanagar Municipal Council, no effective action has been taken to clear the occupied areas.
Demanding immediate intervention from the authorities, local people have urged the administration to launch an eviction drive and remove all illegal encroachments from roads and footpaths to restore smooth traffic movement and ensure public safety.
