Agartala, April 30: A powerful storm that swept across Tripura has severely disrupted the state’s power network, leaving several areas without electricity and causing widespread inconvenience to residents.
According to official sources, strong winds and heavy rainfall led to the uprooting of trees, snapping of electric poles, and damage to transmission lines in multiple districts. The sudden impact of the storm brought normal life to a halt, particularly affecting urban and rural households dependent on uninterrupted power supply.
Officials from the state’s power department informed that emergency response teams were immediately deployed to assess the damage and initiate restoration work. Crews have been working round the clock to repair damaged infrastructure and restore electricity in the worst-affected areas.
“Restoration efforts are in full swing, and power supply is being gradually resumed in several locations,” an official said, adding that complete restoration may take time due to the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid contact with fallen electric lines to prevent accidents.
