Agartala, June 24: MLA Sudip Roy Barman has written to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, urging the state government to implement the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines regarding the age limit for the appointment of assistant professors in general and professional degree colleges.
In his letter, Roy Barman pointed out that the current recruitment process conducted by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has set the maximum age limit for the post of assistant professor at 40 years. However, as per UGC regulations, there is no such age restriction for these appointments.
He further stated that due to this state-imposed age cap, many qualified candidates from Tripura, holding NET and Ph.D. degrees, are being unfairly deprived of the opportunity to apply for these positions.
