Bangladesh owes Rs 161 crore in unpaid electricity bills. This was shared by the Tripura government which also revealed that the outstanding amount against Bangladesh increased by Rs 135 crore in recent months.
Bangladesh owes Rs 161 crore to Tripura in power dues, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said in Agartala on Monday.
Tripura has asked Bangladesh to clear Rs 161 crore in electricity dues amid growing “anti-India activities” in the country.
The Tripura state government has demanded urgent payment of the electricity bill amounting to Rs 161 crore from Bangladesh.
It is learnt that Tripura State Electricity Corporation, the electricity supplier of Tripura state, has already written a letter to the interim government of Bangladesh seeking the due amount.
