On Friday, a delegation of Tripura Electronic Media Society met the ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury with 10 points demands at his office in the Secretariat.
Alongside the demands, they also passed over a memorandum to the minister. The memorandum reiterated the demand for allocating a minimum of 51 per cent of government advertisements, judging by the reality for the hugely popular TV news outlets reaching out to large numbers of people in every corner of the state of Tripura.
To pay all the pending bills of advertisements are also requested in their memorandum. It is also requested to allocate all types of classified and display advertisements for TV news media.
In addition to categorizing the TV news media according to their qualifications, there is also a provision to enlist those who have not yet been enlisted. It was demanded to increase the number of accreditation cards for TV journalists It also demanded that all homeless journalists be provided with permanent accommodation, health insurance, government press stickers and a series of government-sponsored workshops.
Members of the Tripura Electronics Media Society hope that the competent leadership of the state’s Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury will try to meet these insignificant demands.
