Tripura govt working on mission mode to double farmers’ income: Pranajit

The majority of the people of the state depend on agriculture for livelihood. The state government is working in a mission mode to double the income of farmers through the use of modern agricultural technology.

The income of the farmers has increased more than before due to the availability of advanced agricultural machinery, fertilizers and irrigation systems provided by the state government.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Pranjit Singha Ray said this while inaugurating the Government Paddy Purchase Center organized at the Tepania food warehouse premises under the initiative of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Food & Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs.

He said that paddy will be procured from farmers at minimum subsidized prices periodically from 49 places across the state, which started on Thursday and will continue till January 31 next year.

The agriculture minister said that the state government is creating rural markets so that the farmers of the state can market their product very easily.
