There has been great success in the development of multi-modal communication systems in the last four and half years in the state.
Various steps taken have had an impact on the development of the state.
In a press conference in Secretariat on Monday, Special Secretary of Transport Department Sandeep R. Rathore highlighted the success of the Transport Department.
Additional Secretary Subrata Chowdhury and Deputy Secretary Maitri Debnath were present in the press conference.
Special Secretary Mr. Rathore said that tourism and trade are expanding in the state due to the improvement of the transport system.
In addition to increasing rail, road and air services, water transport infrastructure is being developed.
He added that construction of another multimodal logistics hub on the banks of river Gomati at Udaipur has started.
Special Secretary said that 20 acres of land has been allotted to the Transport Department to implement the scheme, and another 36.33 acres of land is proposed to be settled. Preparation of DPR for this project has already started.
He further said that plans have been made to connect Tripura by waterways through Kaladan River in Myanmar to Sittwe and Palotua seaports through Kolkata, India, and Cox Bazar, Chittagong and Ashuganj ports in Bangladesh with the aim of making Tripura the gateway to South-East Asia through the International Kaladan Multimodel Project of the Government of India,
In the press conference, the Special Secretary said that since 2018, there has been an unprecedented improvement in the railway communication system in Tripura.
Tripura is connected to major states of the country by rail. A total of 16 trains are running, including 11 long-distance trains. Before 2018 this number was only 7.
