Tripura: Man gets death sentence for murdering 5

The Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Khowai District, on 23.11.2022 has convicted and sentenced an accused person namely Shri Pradip Deb Roy (40) @ Kutti S/O Lt Ashit Deb Roy of Uttar Ramchandraghat, Sheoratalli, Puran Bazar under Khowai Police Station in connection with Case No. ST(T-1)09 of 2022, arising out of Khowai PS Case No.108/2021. dated 27/11/2021 U/S 302/307/326/333/353/427 IPC to suffer Rigorous Imprisonment for 10(ten) years and to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000/- for the commission of offence punishable U/S 307 IPC IPC and the convict is sentenced to death for the commission of offence U/S 302 IPC subject to confirmation by the Hon’ble High Court of Tripura.

The convict is hereby ordered to pay compensation of Rs. 5,000/- each to the victims namely Smt. Mina Paul(Deb Roy), the wife of the convict and Karnavir Das.

Pradip Deb Roy (accused) murdered his own daughters, Aditi Deb Roy and Mandira Deb Roy, with an iron bar (Sabol) in his living room on November 26. 2021 at midnight. After that, the accused person killed his elder brother, namely Amalesh Deb Roy, with an iron rod. When Khowai PS officers arrived on the scene after receiving this information, the accused assaulted the on-duty officer. Inspector Satyajit Mallik, with an iron rod. As a result, he received grievous injuries to the head and also damaged the police vehicle.

Thereafter, the accused also assaulted one Krishna Das (45) S/O Sri Rakesh Das, and his son Karnadhir Das, who were going from Ramchandraghat to Laltilla by auto rickshaw. As a result, both Krishna Das and his son sustained severe bodily injuries. All of the injured were taken to the Khowai District Hospital for treatment. During treatment, one injured person. Krishna Das expired at Khowai hospital. The injured police officer, namely Inspector Satyajit Mallik, was referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala for better treatment, but during treatment he succumbed to his injury at GBP Hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that the case was initially investigated by SI L Darlong of Khowai Police Station. Thereafter, the case was investigated by Sri Rajib Sutradhar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Khowal. Both investigating officers thoroughly investigated the case, and the case was eventually charged, resulting in a conviction
