The children of Tripura are not lagging behind in any way and must continue to progress in the field of sports, said Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy. Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the members of the Executive Committee of the Tripura Olympic Association, held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Home, the Minister highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure across various parts of Tripura.

On the instructions of Indian Olympic Association President Dr. P.T. Usha, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Tripura Sports Council, has constituted an Ad Hoc Committee of the Tripura Olympic Association. Renowned Olympian and Padma Shri awardee Deepa Karmakar has been appointed as the President of the committee, with Sujit Roy as the General Secretary and Ratan Kumar Das as the Treasurer. The committee comprises a total of 15 members.

Minister Tinku Roy expressed hope that the newly elected Tripura Olympic Association would play a pivotal role in the state’s sports development.
