Agartala, Nov 20: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday announced that the state cabinet has approved the upgradation of the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) into a full-fledged government university. Once upgraded, the institute will be renamed “Tripura Government Technical University.”
Simultaneously, the cabinet has also decided to convert the state’s women’s college into a separate university, to be known as “Tripura Government Women’s University.” The minister said that these decisions aim to enhance the quality of higher education and expand academic opportunities for students across the state.
Chowdhury further informed that the cabinet has approved the creation of several new posts across various government departments. As per the decision, 97 posts will be created in the Cooperative Department, 28 posts in the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, and 14 posts in the Urban Development Department.
Additionally, the government has approved the recruitment of 8 faculty members for the Film and Television Institute and sanctioned the establishment of new Anganwadi centres along with necessary staff. The minister also stated that the government has taken steps to increase the pension for retired journalists, emphasizing its commitment to social security and welfare.
