The Tripura government is preparing for a grand carnival, named ‘Mayer Gaman’ on Thursday, October 26, 2023, to celebrate the conclusion of the Durga Puja festivities.
This event will highlight the rich cultural diversity and artistic talent of the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the carnival at 5 pm in front of the City Centre in Agartala, the capital of Tripura in the presence of Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Minister Tinku Roy, and other notable figures.
The carnival will include a parade of floats and displays contributed by different puja organizers and clubs in Agartala. The procession is set to commence at the City Centre and pass through Post Office Chowmuhani and Paradise Chowmuhani, where a substantial audience is anticipated to be assembled.
Mayor Majumdar conducted a visit to the venue on Wednesday to assess the arrangements for the carnival.
He said, “This year’s Durga Puja celebrations in Agartala drew a significant number of visitors. Therefore, the carnival would similarly draw a large crowd and effectively present the rich cultural heritage of Tripura.
Notably, the ‘Mayer Gaman’ Carnival is an initiative of the Tripura government and the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs organises and directs it.
