26 crore 61 lakh rupees have been spent on distribution of relief goods in the last six years in West Tripura district. Out of this, during the period of Covid-19, 7 crore 72 lakh rupees were spent in this sector.

District Magistrate of West Tripura district Dr. Vishal Kumar gave this news at a press conference in the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office on Tuesday afternoon.

He added, “Since 2018-19, these relief items have been distributed among 15,000 people affected by various disasters. Among them, about 9,000 people have received assistance for house damage.”

The District Magistrate further said, “The district administration wants to give regular training to people involved in disaster management.”

He said, “West District Administration is fully prepared to deal with any kind of calamity. District administration has high quality support materials. Various programs are being taken in coordination with various departments related to disaster management.”
Keeping the disaster aspect in mind, the District Magistrate has advised the common people to build houses in compliance with all government norms.
