“The government has given priority to the public distribution system in the marginal towns of the state so that people can easily get the goods. Therefore, the public distribution system is being strengthened in the state. For this purpose, food warehouses are being set up in different parts of the state.”
Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this while inaugurating a newly constructed 500 metric ton capacity food warehouse in Srinagar, Sabroom on Monday.
The Food Minister further said that the Central and State Governments have taken various steps to ensure that the people of the state can get the goods at the right time in the public distribution system.
He added, “There are 8 fair price shops in Srinagar area. The department should ensure that the consumers of these fair price shops get proper service.”
Notably, 92 lakh rupees have been spent on the construction of this food warehouse.
MLA Mailafru Mog, former MLA Shankar Roy, member of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Shankar Bhowmik, District Magistrate of South Tripura District Dhanbabu Reang, Director of Food Department Animesh Debbarma etc. spoke on the occasion.
The Sub-Divisional Ruler of Sabroom Sub-Division Bidhan Chandra Roy delivered the welcome address and Poangbari Panchayat Samiti Chairman Manimala Baidya presided over the event.
