Based on a tip-off received late at night, the Tripura Police conducted an operation and successfully detained two individuals.
The operation took place in the Bhagalpur area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Airport Police Station. During the operation, law enforcement officers seized a significant quantity of dried cannabis weighing 52 kilograms.
Suman Singh, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Airport Police Station, informed the media that they had received confidential information regarding Prasenjit Biswas, a resident of Bhagalpur, who was suspected of storing a substantial amount of illegal drugs in his residence.
The police were particularly concerned about the possibility of these drugs being smuggled into Bangladesh and carried out a raid at Prasenjit Biswas’s residence.
During the search, police found and seized 52 kilograms of dried cannabis and arrested two persons namely, Prasenjit Biswas and Liton Das. Officer-in-Charge Singh estimated the value of the confiscated cannabis to be around Rs 5 lakh rupees in the black market.
