AGARTALA: Following persistent rainfall that led to severe waterlogging and disrupted daily life across the city, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Deepak Majumdar conducted on-ground inspections of several affected locations on Friday.

The Mayor visited key areas including IGM Chowmuhani, Orient Chowmuhani, and Jaynagar to assess the extent of water accumulation, identify drainage bottlenecks, and evaluate the overall impact on local residents. During the visit, Mayor Majumdar inspected the condition of the sewer networks and drainage systems to ensure there were no major blockages obstructing the flow of water.

Interacting with field officials at the sites, the Mayor instructed them to take immediate corrective measures to expedite water drainage. He also met with local residents to hear their grievances directly.

Addressing reporters, the Mayor stated that the AMC is maintaining active surveillance across the city to minimize public suffering during the monsoon. He emphasized that high-risk areas facing acute drainage issues will be prioritized, adding that municipal workers are actively deployed in the field with additional personnel and equipment ready to be mobilized if required.
