Senior CPIM leader Jitendra Chaudhury raised apprehensions regarding the law and order situation in Tripura on Sunday.
Chaudhury said, “The state has witnessed 16 homicides since the BJP regained power for the second time in March. In addition to these killings, Tripura has also experienced 78 cases of suicide, 12 incidents of rape, and 137 instances of molestation since March 10.”
The CPIM leader further mentioned that there have been 17 reported cases of domestic violence in the past three months.
According to Jitendra Chaudhury, the CPIM leader in the Assembly, the recent crime statistics during the BJP’s second term in power reflect the overall state of law and order.
He claimed that this portrayal contradicts the BJP’s assertions of good governance.
Chaudhury also noted that currently government employees declined from 1.50 lakh during the Left Front government’s tenure to less than a lakh at present.
Additionally, he expressed concern about the challenges faced by rural residents due to extended periods of drought and a decrease in MGNREGA projects.
