The death of Kailash Rai, a resident of Goalabasti, has once again triggered political unrest in the state. On Tuesday, CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury visited the area and alleged that the incident was a case of custodial death.
Speaking to the media, Chowdhury claimed that Kailash Rai was subjected to mental and physical torture while in government custody, ultimately leading to his death. He further stated that the law and order situation in the state has completely deteriorated due to such incidents.
Jitendra Chowdhury also leveled serious allegations against an influential lawyer, accusing him of being involved in illegal land dealings. He claimed that Kailash Rai was killed in a planned manner because he intended to expose these unlawful activities.
The incident has sparked sharp reactions from the opposition and raised fresh concerns over custodial safety and governance in the state.
