The first Child Rights Protection Conclave was held at the office of the Tripura State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TSCPCR) at Melarmath. The Child Welfare Committees (CWC) from different districts, District Inspector of Social Education (DISE), District Child Protection Officers (DCPO) and Child Helpline representatives participated in the Conclave.

The Conclave aimed at strengthening the child rights protection system in the state and increasing coordination between different stakeholders.

Various important issues were discussed in the Conclave including implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act expediting investigation of cases under POCSO Act, extending necessary assistance to the victims and their rehabilitation under the POCSO Act, protecting children from trafficking cyber bullies, ensuring children-friendly environment in schools, strengthening Childline service system, and organizing exchange programmes on child safety and challenges.

Additionally, under RTI Act 12(I) Section C, ensuring seat reservation in private schools for children of financially week and deprived families came for discussion.

Other issues discussed included inclusive education for differently abled children, identification of learning disability among children, evaluation and providing necessary assistance to them.

Problems, experiences from different districts were highlighted. The Conclave also emphasized taking coordinated initiative and adoption of practical recommendations for the protection of child rights.

The Chairperson of TSCPCR Jayanti Debbarma presided over the Conclave. Among others present included member secretary of TSCPCR Madhab Paul, other members and officials from District Child Welfare Committees.
