Tension prevailed in the Jirania area after nearly 80 to 90 labourers engaged in a national highway construction project alleged that they had not received their wages for the past three months. Agitated over the delay, the workers gathered at the construction site and threatened to stage a road blockade demanding immediate payment of their pending dues.
On receiving information about the situation, personnel from Jirania Police Station rushed to the spot and intervened to prevent any untoward incident. The police managed to bring the situation under control through discussions with the protesting workers.
Later, the project manager of the construction company held talks with the labourers and assured them that all outstanding wages would be cleared shortly, following which the tension subsided.
