Agartala, June 19: In a major operation against illegal logging activities, forest officials conducted a raid deep inside the Rajnagar forest area under the Bishalgarh subdivision and seized an illegal timber mill along with a generator.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Vishalgarh Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Ishan Lal. Acting on specific information, the forest team chased suspected timber smugglers into the dense forest and recovered the equipment being used for illegal timber processing.

Speaking to the media, Forester Vijay Ghosh said that the estimated value of the seized timber mill and generator is around ₹3 lakh. The recovered items were brought to the Charilam Forest Range Office for further legal action.

However, the forest smugglers managed to escape from the spot before they could be apprehended. Forest officials have launched an investigation and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the illegal operation.
