India, Pakistan Extend Airspace Closure for Each Other Until July 24

New Delhi, June 24: India has extended the closure of its airspace for Pakistani aircraft, both civilian and military, until July 24. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirming the restriction, citing national security concerns as the primary reason for the extension.

In a reciprocal move, Pakistan has also announced the extension of its airspace closure for all Indian aircraft. Islamabad’s aviation authorities released a corresponding NOTAM, making the restriction effective until July 24 as well.

Officials from India’s Civil Aviation Ministry stated that the decision has been taken in view of prevailing security considerations and regional tensions. “The safety and security of the nation remain our top priority,” a government spokesperson said.

The restrictions will continue to impact flight operations over both countries’ airspace, affecting international carriers that transit through the region.

This mutual airspace closure has been in place amid heightened tensions between the two neighbouring countries and remains a significant point of concern for regional aviation traffic.
