Workshop on Technology Transfer to the Waste Recyclers: An initiative to promote Circular Economy

Circular Economy focuses on minimizing waste and maximizing the use of resources through strategies like reducing consumption, reusing products, and recycling materials. It contrasts with the traditional linear “take-make-dispose” model by keeping materials in use for as long as possible, ultimately aiming to regenerate natural systems. Waste recycling strategies are crucial components of a circular economy, involving various methods to recover and reuse materials from waste streams.

Circular Economy being one of the sub-theme of 4th National Conference of the Chief Secretaries (NCCS) held on 13-15th December, 2024 at New Delhi on the theme “Promoting Entrepreneurship, Employment & Skilling- Leveraging the Demographic Dividend”; a workshop has been organised by the Tripura State Pollution Control Board on 23.06.2025 in the Board Room of the Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Parivesh Bhawan, PN Complex, Agartala, West Tripura to sharing the New/Emerging Technologies with the Recyclers.

The workshop witnessed the active participation of owners and technical associates from 13 authorized plastic waste recycling industries and other waste recycling industries across the state. The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) made a detailed presentation on innovative approaches and emerging technologies to support plastic waste recycling industries in adopting cutting-edge solutions.

The event was graced by Dr. Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary, TSPCB, and Mr. P. Vijay Kumar, Joint Director & Head, CIPET, Agartala and Sri Manas Mukherjee, Executive Engineer, Tripura State Pollution Control Board.
