Udaipur, May 19: After nearly three months, the 16 donation boxes and chests of the revered were opened on Monday in the presence of district administration officials and temple authorities. The counting process, which began in the morning, continued till evening under tight security arrangements.
According to administrative sources, apart from Indian currency notes and coins, foreign currencies including US dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti dinars, Nepalese currency and Bangladeshi taka were also recovered from the donation boxes.
A 16-member special team formed by the Gomati district administration carried out the counting operation. Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chatterjee stated that the counting work was expected to conclude by evening.
Temple authorities informed that the donated amount would be utilized for the development of the temple and for improving services for devotees visiting the shrine.
Meanwhile, in a notable gesture of devotion, CRPF jawan Buddhadev Das donated his entire first month’s salary amounting to Rs 33,310 to the temple on the same day.
