Udaipur, May 19: The Udaipur Sub-divisional Committee of the CPI(M) organised a protest march and public meeting in Udaipur on Monday against the rising prices of essential commodities, including petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
A large number of party workers and supporters participated in the rally, which passed through various roads of the city. During the procession, protesters raised slogans against both the central and state governments, demanding an immediate rollback of the increased fuel prices and relief for the common people.
Later, a protest meeting was held in front of the party office where Sub-divisional Secretary Dilip Dutta addressed the gathering. He alleged that the continuous rise in prices has made the lives of ordinary people extremely difficult and accused the government’s policies of placing additional burdens on poor and middle-class families.
The leaders also warned of launching a larger movement in the coming days if effective measures are not taken to control inflation and reduce fuel prices.
