NCW Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar Begins Three-Day Visit to Tripura

Agartala, July 28: National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar arrived in Tripura on Tuesday on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening women’s empowerment, child protection and social awareness initiatives in the state.

Addressing a press conference, Tripura State Commission for Women Chairperson Jharna Debbarma outlined the NCW Chairperson’s itinerary. She said that on July 29, Rahatkar will attend an awareness programme on child marriage and its social impact at Rajarshi Hall in Udaipur, Gomati district.

During the visit to Gomati district, the NCW Chairperson will also hold meetings with district administrative officials and interact with women beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes to understand their experiences and concerns.

On July 30, Rahatkar is scheduled to visit the Central Correctional Facility. She will also meet the state’s Director General of Police and other senior police officials to discuss issues related to women’s safety and protection.

Later the same day, she will participate in another awareness programme at a private hotel in Agartala’s Milan Chakra before departing for New Delhi.

Speaking to reporters, Jharna Debbarma expressed hope that the visit of the NCW Chairperson would further strengthen ongoing efforts to promote women’s rights, enhance child protection and increase social awareness across Tripura.
