State-level initiative to ensure doorstep delivery of welfare schemes in tribal areas

In a major step toward holistic tribal development, the state-level Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan was formally launched yesterday at Pragna Bhavan by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma. The campaign, which will continue till June 30, aims to deliver the benefits of various state and central welfare schemes directly to tribal communities across Tripura.

During his address, Minister Bikas Debbarma emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving 100 percent development in every sector concerning tribals. He highlighted that the campaign will reach every tribal village committee, offering services from 20 different departments through specially organized camps.

“This campaign will bridge the information gap and ensure that tribal beneficiaries who were previously unaware of their entitlements receive them without hassle,” the minister said. He also urged tribal students to pursue education along with sports and cultural development, stating that personal growth should contribute to societal progress.

Also speaking at the event, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia underlined the importance of tribal development for building a Vikshit Bharat by 2047. He noted that under the current central government, tribal icons like Birsa Munda have been given long-overdue recognition and landmark. changes such as the appointment of the country’s first tribal woman President have taken place. Minister also said that since the formation of the current state government in 2018, the outbreak of malaria in the hilly areas of the state has been reduced to a great extent. The event also saw the virtual inauguration of online smart classes for different schools and the Minister also interacted with students from various tribal boarding hostels, Two tribal students were felicitated for their achievements in an All India Competition, further encouraging youth participation in national platforms.

Paite, MD and Chairman of the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation; Nagendra Debbarma, Director of TRP & PTG Department; Ratnadeep Debbarma, Director of Tribal Research and Cultural Institute: Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate of West Tripura; Subhasish Das, Director of the Tribal Welfare Department; and Bipin Debbarma, an eminent social worker
