The State-Level Handloom and Textile Fair has commenced at Santirbazar Higher Secondary School ground yesterday. Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture Minister Rampada Jamatia inaugurated the fair through a programme. After inaugurating the fair, the Minister said, the state government has taken different steps for development of the textile industry.
As a result, Tripura’s textiles are gaining popularity in the state as well as outside. The Minister also said, the government has emphasized upon creation of job opportunities through development of textile industry in the state. MLA Pramod Reang also spoke on the occasion. Other dignitaries present there were Chairperson of Santirbazar Municipal Council Swapna Baidya and Sahakari Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Bibhishon Das. The programme was presided over by Chairman of Handloom, Handicrafts Development Corporation Balai Goshwami. 50 stalls were opened in the fair.
The fair will continue for 14 days, ie; the fair will end on January 2. Cultural programmes will be conducted every evening in the fair.
