AGARTALA — Three people sustained serious injuries following a collision between a Maruti car and an auto-rickshaw (TomTom) near the Western Club area on Akhaura Road, triggering local outrage and a road blockade.

According to local sources, the crash occurred while a student was taking a driving lesson in the Maruti car. Allegations have surfaced that the vehicle was being driven by the daughter of a Police Officer.

All three injured individuals were promptly rescued from the crash site and rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Enraged by the collision, local residents staged a protest and blocked the road, expressing strong anger toward law enforcement. Demonstrators declared that the blockade would persist until the individual responsible for the accident is arrested.

Senior officers, including the Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), along with a large police contingent, arrived at the scene to restore order. Authorities are currently negotiating with the protesters while investigating the exact cause of the crash and establishing liability.
