Agartala, July 20: Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar was found hanging in his office on Monday, triggering shock across the state.
Preliminary reports suggest it to be a case of suspected suicide, though the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for nearly 48 minutes. However, despite all efforts, he was declared dead at 12:48 pm.
Police and other authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination, officials said.
