Tripura Government Mandates Standardized School Uniforms for Classes I to XII Across State

Implementation of Standardized School Uniforms for Students of Classes I to XII across Government Schools.

In pursuit of consistent standards and a unified identity across all government schools in the state, it has been decided to implement a standardized school uniform policy. The directive aims to ensure resemblance in uniforms among schools of the same category as follows:

All Vidyajyoti Schools will adopt a common uniform.

All PM-SHRI Schools will adopt a common uniform.

All other government schools will adopt a common uniform.

This uniform directive shall not be applicable to the following institutions:

  1. Shishu Bihar H.S. School, West Tripura District.
  2. Sukhamoy H.S. School, West Tripura District.
  3. Umakanta Academy, West Tripura District.
  4. PM SHRI Radha Kishore Institution, Unakoti District.

This dress code will be applicable to all students from Classes I to XII studying in all Government Schools except the aforementioned four schools.

All District Education Officers (DEOS) are hereby instructed to direct the Principals, Vice-Principals, Headmasters, Headmistresses, Assistant Headmasters/Headmistresses, and Teachers-in-Charge (TICs) of all government schools under their jurisdiction to adopt the prescribed uniform colour and design for students of Classes I to XII.

For the ongoing academic year only, schools are permitted to continue using existing uniforms alongside the new ones to facilitate a smooth transition.

From the commencement of the next academic session, strict adherence to this standardized uniform policy must be enforced in all government schools across the state, except for the four exempted schools listed above.

Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, uniforms are centrally provided to students of specific categories in Classes I to VIII. The distribution of the newly prescribed uniforms for these categories has already commenced and will be completed shortly.

This measure is expected to reinforce discipline, promote equality, and foster a strong, unified institutional identity among students
