Power Minister on Wednesday released the ‘Rooftop Solar PV Systems Handbook’ at the auditorium of in the presence of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Managing Director .

Speaking at the programme, the Power Minister said the handbook has been prepared to help ordinary consumers understand the maintenance and repair process of rooftop solar systems.

He also announced a special solar power project for financially weaker consumers who use less than 50 units of electricity per month. Under the scheme, eligible consumers will be able to install 1 kW rooftop solar panels by paying only Rs 1,000.

The minister said the State Power Corporation is providing this opportunity to citizens to encourage the use of renewable energy. In the first phase, around 1.5 lakh families will benefit from the scheme, while work is underway to identify nearly three lakh eligible families across the state.

Ratan Lal Nath further assured that the announced project would be implemented within the next two months.
