Due to the intense heatwave affecting Tripura and other regions, Sepahijala Zoological Park, situated in Sepahijala District of Tripura, has taken various steps to ensure the welfare of its animals during the high temperatures.

Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, the zoo authorities are providing seasonal fruits like watermelons, gourds and cucumbers to help the animals stay hydrated and cool, which helps to alleviate the discomfort caused by the extreme heat.

Along with offering hydrating fruits, the zoo is employing ice cubes and cold-water splashes directly to help alleviate heat stress among the animals. These actions are supplemented by the administration of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) and other substances to prevent dehydration, ensuring that the animals receive the essential care needed to sustain their health during this challenging period.

The zoo staff ensures fresh and cool water is available by frequently changing water levels in enclosures.
