Tripura’s traditional 7-day Kharchi festival, fair and exhibition will start from June 26 at the Chaturdash Devta Temple in old Agartala.

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the historic 7-day Kharchi festival and exhibition at 1 am on Friday.

As guests of honour, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, West Tripura Zilla Parishad Acting President Haridulal Acharya, MLA Sapna Debbarma and Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Chairman Biswajit Sheel will attend the event .

The 7-day traditional Kharchi festival of the state will start from June 26 at Chaturdasha Devta temple.

A final preparatory meeting was held yesterday at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office of West Tripura district for smooth completion of Kharchi festival-2023.

Chairman and MLA of Kharchi festival and Mela Committee Ratan Chakraborty presided over the meeting Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Manika Das Dutta, In-charge Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Haridulal Acharya, Chairman of Old Agartala Panchayat Samiti Biswajit Shil, District Magistrate of West Tripura District Debapriya Bardhan and Additional District Magistrate Rajat Panth were present in the meeting Officers and officials of the Department of PWD, Power, Police, Information and Cultural Affairs, Health, Tourism, Drinking Water and Sanitation were also present in the meeting

In the meeting. MLA Ratan Chakraborty urged the officials of all the departments to complete 7-day Kharchi festival in a smooth and orderly manner and said that like every year this year too, various departments have taken responsibility for infrastructural development work around the Devtabari.

He asked everyone to complete the work of their respective departments by June 24. He said, Kharchi is one of the important festivals of our state. This festival attracts over 10 lakh people every year.

We have to work keeping in mind that every devotee who comes to Kharchi Festival gets fair service. District Magistrate of West Tripura district Debupriya Bardhan also urged everyone to cooperate to make Kharchi festival a success.
