Tripura’s ‘Sangrain’ dance to perform in national Republic Day prog this year

A cultural group from Sangrain Dance Academy of Tripura has been selected to perform the traditional dance in the national Republic Day programme.

The traditional ‘Sangrain’ dance of Mog Community will be seen in the Republic Day programme in 2023 in New Delhi.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, MP Rebati Tripura, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and others praised the selection of the cultural troupe. After the grand finale of national-level Vande Bharatam Nritya Utsav held at Jawharlal Nehru Stadium on December 19 and 20 in New Delhi, Sangrain Dance Academy was selected.

Around 980 artists from various parts of India participated in the event organized by the Union Ministry of Culture.
500 dancers among them have been selected to perform a grand cultural show on the theme of ‘Nari Shakti’ during the Republic Day 2023.
Notably, participants are from the age group of 17-30 years in the genres of Classical, Folk/ Tribal and Contemporary/ Fusion.
