On 10 March, 2026 the Ld Addl. District & Sessions Judge Khowai District has convicted two accused persons namely 1) Sri Chiranjit Debbarma @ Siranjit S/o Sri Umesh Debbarma & 2) Sri Shibaji Debbarma S/o Lt. Iswar Ch. Debbarma both of Para Kalak, Biswachandra Para, PS TLM and sentenced him to suffer Rigorous Imprisonment for Life and also order them to pay a fine Rs.10,000/- and default of payment of the fine, they shall further suffer simple imprisonment for 06 (Six) month for commission of offence punishable u/s 302/34 IPC in connection with ST(T-1) 05/2019 arising out of Teliamura PS Case No. 62/2011 dated 03/10/2011 u/s 302/34 IPC. The third accused person is still absconding.
The fact of the case in brief is that on 03.10.2011 the deceased (Ranjan Debbarma) went out of his house for business purpose in Duski market but as he did not return home till 07.00 pm the complainant (Brother) tried to contact with him but found his phone was switched off to which they started searching of him.
On that night they could not trace out him but on the next day morning in course of his search they found him with severe injuries including cut injuries on different parts of his head and other parts of his body nearby DS Para camp in a jungle. At that time he disclosed the names of the FIR named three accused persons stating that those people firstly assaulted with a branch of tree on his head then he became senseless. He was shifted to Teliamura hospital, from where he was referred to GB hospital, Agartala on the same day. On the same day he succumbed to his injuries at GBP hospital, Agartala.
The verdict is the culmination of a meticulous investigation carried out by then SI Asish Sarkar of Teliamura PS (Now Inspector, currently posted as OC KLN PS under Khowai District) who effectively utilized scientific, medical, and other corroborative evidence to build a strong prosecution case against the accused persons.
