A social empowerment camp was held at Ambasa Town Hall on Sunday for the distribution of mobility and support materials among Divyangjans and senior citizens.
Dhalai district administration and Elimco organization Organized this camp jointly.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated this social empowerment camp.
Dhalai Zila Parishad Acting President Anadi Sarkar, MLA Manoj Kanti Deb, MLA Shambhulal Chakma, Dhalai District District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Siddharthashiv Jaiswal, Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Abhinash Rai, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Deputy Secretary Sundar Singh, etc.
Ambasa Municipal Council Acting Chairperson Gopal Sutradhar presided over the event.
Mobility and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, tricycles, walking sticks, spectacles, etc. were distributed among 220 Divyangjans and senior citizens of Ambasa, Ganganagar, Salema and Durga Chowmuhani blocks of the district.
In the event, the guests along with the Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik presented mobility and assistive materials among the 5 Divyangajans.
While inaugurating the camp, Pratima Bhowmik said, “Dhalai district is among the 112 aspirational districts of the country. The central government has given priority to the overall development of this district. Various projects of the central government are being implemented for the overall development of the district. As a result, this district is ahead than before.”
She said, “1 thousand 200 disabled people and senior citizens have been identified in Dhalai district. The work of providing 4 thousand 661 moving and supporting materials to 1 thousand 200 people is going on step by step in all the banks of the district.
For this, 79 lakh 73 thousand rupees will be spent.” Bhowmik expressed the opinion that the distribution of mobility and support materials among Divyangjans and senior citizens in 74 places in the country is groundbreaking work.
