Agartala, Sept 16:With Durga Puja around the corner, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced a citywide cleaning drive to ensure smooth movement of people during the celebrations.
Mayor and MLA of 7-Ramnagar, Dipak Majumder, said on Monday that lakhs of devotees and visitors flock to the city every year to witness the festivities. “The Chief Minister has directed us to see that no inconvenience is caused to the people. Traffic must remain congestion-free,” Majumder told reporters.
He admitted that several city roads are in poor condition due to continuous rainfall and ongoing construction work, which slowed down repair activities. To address the issue, a high-level meeting was convened with CEO Smart City Sailesh Kumar Yadav, District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, AMC Commissioner D.K. Chakma, and other senior officials.
“All major departments, including Urban Development, AMC, and allied agencies, will work in coordination so that the festive spirit is not disturbed,” the Mayor said.
