Angel Chakma murder case: Police action questioned as prime accused remains absconding

Dehradun: The investigation into the murder of Angel Chakma, a student from Tripura who was studying in Dehradun, has come under sharp scrutiny, with serious questions being raised over the role of the police.

Critics have expressed concern that the prime accused, Yagyaraj Awasthi, is still absconding despite the gravity of the crime.

Adding to the controversy, the delay in registering the First Information Report (FIR) has drawn widespread criticism, with many terming it unacceptable in such a serious case.

Although the Uttarakhand Police have so far arrested five accused in connection with the murder, the failure to apprehend the main suspect has intensified public outrage.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reacted to the incident in an interview with Headlines Tripura National, assuring that strict action will be taken and justice will be ensured.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission has also taken cognisance of the matter, launched its own inquiry, and sought a detailed report from the authorities.
