Kadamtala, May 21: Angry customers staged protests around the Gramin Bank branch adjacent to Kadamtala Bazar in North Tripura on Wednesday, alleging misbehavior, negligence and lack of cooperation from bank employees.
According to the customers, people visiting the branch for various banking services are being harassed regularly, forcing many to return empty-handed despite waiting for long hours. The situation reportedly worsened on Wednesday due to heavy rush at the branch.
Senior customers Karuna Nath and Kalpana Nath alleged that they are often subjected to humiliation while collecting their disability allowances. Customers further claimed that they face severe difficulties in availing services ranging from passbook updates to withdrawal and allowance payments.
The aggrieved customers warned that if the situation does not improve soon, they will launch a larger movement against the alleged irregularities and harassment at the bank branch.
